William Allen Reed, United States Army Veteran

William Allen Reed, United States Army Veteran

William Reed was born April 27, 1962 at Huntingdon, Pa, where he was educated.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1980 to 1984 as a Ground Surveillance Radar Crewman.  His decorations include the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

After he left the army, he was a resident of Killeen, Texas where he was the account manager for Military Sales and Service at Fort Hood.  He also owned and operated Central Texas Technical Services.

William passed away August 12, 2010, at the age of 48, in a Temple Hospital.

Funeral services were held August 16 at Harper-Talasek Chapel in Killeen.  On hand to honor this veteran were Patriot Guard Riders who formed a line of American flags at the entrance of the chapel to welcome the arriving family and friends.

The Riders then lead the funeral procession to Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Killeen for interment with military honors.

The Riders formed a line of American flags around the gathered family and friends as final prayers were said, and military honors rendered by an Army honor guard.

The Army bugler played taps. The American flag was folded into the traditional triangle, and presented to William’s dear wife, Rosa, on behalf of the United States Army and a grateful nation.

William was then laid to rest at the foot of the hill as the American flag flew at half-staff on the hill above.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, two stepsons, three brothers, four sisters and many other dear family and friends.

With thanks to the Killeen Daily Herald for biographical information.

  1. Thank you for making this posting in your blog. I am Kristofer, one of Bill's 2 step-sons. Bill will be truly missed in many peoples lives, especially the lives of his family. The ceremony was fabulous, and I thank each and every person that battled the 108 degree temperatures in full uniform and outfits to honor Bill the way he should have been. Bill would have loved everything that was put together with such detail and care.

  2. It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Bill or as I knew him Pivo. You see I met Bill 7 years ago through playing computer games which Bill played too and though the wonders of technology I got to talk to him too. He was always there with a funny comment even when the games weren't going his way. They say you miss the great ones when they aren't there any more, this will be very true with Bill he was larger than life and never down. Rest well brother you'll be missed by quite a few people this side of the Atlantic and my deepest condolances to the family you've left behind.

  4. I also knew Bill(Pivo) through playing internet games. He always came on teamspeak and was always in a chipper mood. We told him he was worked to hard, and he needed to slow down. He loved to BBQ, and get together with his neighbors. That's what I will always remember about Pivo! His love for cooking. To the family, I say I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a good friend to a lot of people. He will surly be missed,

  5. We have missed him this Christmas and spent some time with his dear wife. He is still so much a part of our lives that sometimes we forget he is no longer here and just doesnt seem possible. His spirit remains as long as we remember. I look forward to seeing him again soon on the other side.

We met Bill in the 1990's. We were privileged to be his Pastors for many years. He was our dear and beloved friend. Bill stood ready to help those in need with no thought of anything in return. He and his wife Rosa are precious to us still. We can't believe he left so soon, but God knows best and we will see him again.

  7. I met Bill in the Army in Fort Hood. We started a fast friendship while on REFORGER in Germany, and I cannot EVER hear a Phil Collins song without thinking about him. I miss you, Bill!

  8. Bill and I originally met like a few other posters mentioned, through online video gaming. But our friendship was more than just gaming and talking for hours into the night with fellow comrades online such as Carl, Laura and Harald-Ove above. Bill and I shared great passion for our family, friends, motorcycles, business and our country that we served honorably and proudly. His attitude and personality out shinned almost anyone I've ever known. Bill brought such joy to people around him, even those like me, whom sadly never had a chance to physically meet, a true testament to his personality that will continue to live on for many years to come. I miss my friend, but I'll never forget him and the fond memories he blessed me with that continue to make me smile and laugh. I will cherish them the remainder of my life. I’m so very honored to be able to call him friend and will proudly continue to hold tight to his memory as a fallen brother until the day we finally get to meet, face-to-face, where I can shake Bill’s hand and share a laugh with him once again. Thank you for…being you!
